Wayne studied at the Banff Centre, Alberta and at the Nova Scotia
College of Art and Design in Halifax, receiving a Bachelor of Fine
Arts Degree in 1975.
Boucher was the recipient of a Canada Council Established Artist
Grant in 2001, and elected to the RCA in 2002. A major exhibition
of recent work "Radiance and Counterpoint" is at the Art Gallery
of Nova Scotia from September to October, 2006. In June of 2004,
he was awarded the commission in a North American Juried Competition
to do the Acadian Deportation 8' x 12' Mural "Réveil"
for the new Interpretation Centre at Grand-Pré National National
Historic Site.
Wayne Boucher was awarded the 2006 Portia White Prize which recognizes
artistic excellence and achievement by outstanding Nova Scotia artists.
The Portia White Prize is named after the classical singer from
Nova Scotia who overcame adversity to achieve international acclaim
on the great stages of Europe and North America.
Wayne a fait des études au Centre de Banff

Wayne a remporté une subvention pour artiste établi
du Conseil des arts du Canada en 2001 et a été élu
à l’ARC en 2002. Il a organisé une grande exposition
d’œuvres récentes, intitulée « Radiance
and Counterpoint », à la Galerie d’art de la
Nouvelle-Écosse en septembre et octobre 2006. En juin 2004,
il a remporté une commande lors d’un concours artistique
nord-américain pour réaliser la fresque murale «
Réveil » de 8 x 12 pieds sur la déportation
des Acadiens pour le nouveau centre d’interprétation
au lieu historique national de Grand-Pré.
En 2006, Wayne Boucher a reçu le prix Portia White, qui souligne
l’excellence artistique et les réalisations d’artistes
remarquables en Nouvelle-Écosse. Ce prix porte le nom de
la cantatrice originaire de la Nouvelle-Écosse qui a surmonté
de grands obstacles pour devenir une artiste de renommée
internationale sur les plus grandes scènes d’Europe
et d’Amérique du Nord.
